I first met this lovely mama at her mother's blessing in 2012. By this point I had probably been to at least 20 gatherings like this and hers was one of the largest, full of loving women so happy to celebrate with her!
I'll never forget the emails leading up the event, where she asked for design details like this: A pregnant goddess in the form of a tree, with a Z on her belly (child's name starts with Z). There was to be a river flowing past the tree, a monkey in the tree, and of course a big beautiful shining heart.

She returned for postpartum henna and photos and I loved seeing her sweet new baby - adorable! This little on is about 7 now! Hard to believe how time flies.

This mama heard about my Sacred Feminine Art Project and had a unique idea I had to try once she explained it. A fierce dragon, flying and breathing fire, with it's wing tips on her shoulders. It's tail dipped down into a lovely bit of lower back henna jewelry.

After I finished with her photos, she shared them on social media and said: "It’s true. I agonized over whether to post these pictures. My good friend SarahKate put out a call for models for her Sacred Feminine art book and asked that we bring an image for her to convey in her tattooing.

I am so devastated by the treatment of children in our country and the dangers they face. I am so furious at the way women’s bodies are being judged and categorized and punished. I am so disheartened by the civil unrest in our country as divisions grow and fester. I came to this session with a vision I brought from a dream of a huge, winged, fire-breathing dragon with a glowing heart.

Posting a picture like this gets you several responses: appreciation from lovers of art, hating from people who find it “too much“ to post such a thing, and maybe some perverted comments. I challenge you to find your own spirit in these times of trouble. I have been a dancer for 40 years and a bodyworker for 20.

I am my own artwork and my own product and my own cash machine. I slap these pictures down here as an invitation to duel, world of negativity or those who disempower. Rise and breathe fire and lead from your glowing heart. #fierce #dragonsareeverywhere#womanflying "

Simply email me if you would like to set up a time to be adorned with henna & photographed.

I have packages that include a henna session and finished, high resolution photos as well as a printed book!
