Part of my current art project, Honoring the Sacred Feminine, involves capturing 3 generations at once, showing Maiden, Mother and Wise Woman all in one photo. This amazing mama came to me to celebrate her pregnancy, which had been especially challenging for her. I was so happy to meet her baby on the outside for these photos! What an absolute doll!

When this mama sat in my chair she talked about incorporating a lotus flower into her design. I found myself getting lost in the swirls, thinking about how water runs around a lotus flower and how milk travels out a breast into the baby. She also requested a butterfly and that came near the end, floating above her breast.

When her mom, the baby's grandmother, came in for henna, we spent a long time talking about what symbols were important to her. The tree of life theme was explored and we found the perfect placement on her body. Three hearts, for the three of them, hang from the tree. At the base of the tree is a lovely flower garden.

The photo shoot lasted about an hour and this dear baby kept pausing her lunch to look up at me and smile.  We laughed and had fun changing outfits. It really melted my heart to take these photos and see such loving bonds between all three women.

Simply email me if you would like to set up a time to be adorned with henna & photographed.
